Abstract: | The present research document attempts to compare the four work of art by four different novelists and film directors. The dissertation has tried to study the women delineation in a text (i.e. novel) and their film adaptation with a comparative angle. These four novels focus on the study of women character in the light of Patriarchy and Feminism. The present research document focuses on the novel i.e. Wuthering Heights by Emile Bronte Heat and Dust by R.P. Jhabvala Ice candy Man by Bapsi Sidhwa and The Color Purple by Alice Walker and its film adaptations. The present study concentrates on the women portrayals from the feminists point view. This presentation attempts to focus on the comparison between the delineation of women characters in film and fiction. The thesis attempts to interpret intellectually the similarities and dissimilarities between the film and fiction. newlineAs for the title and the background of the study is concerned; the problem statement is that how the women characters are delineated with a spark of struggle in the fiction and then into adapted films with a comparative angle of study. The present study attempts to contribute to larger body of knowledge particularly the study of literature and film adaptations with a comparative angle. The theoretical utility of the study attempts to contribute to the larger body of knowledge particularly the study of literature and film adaptation with a comparative angle. It also attempts to enhance the awareness of film studies among the students of literature and researchers in academics. The methods which are used for collecting data are library, magazines, journals, articles and newspaper cutting. Six techniques of data collection are being used throughout the present research work. i.e. a) reading novel repeatedly b) watching film repeatedly c) determined the major characters that has been analysed d) taken few notes of important information in both the primary and secondary data sources. e) Arranged and developed the selection data with greater unity. |
