dc.description.abstractHuman resources management includes guiding human resources in to a dynamic organization that attains its objectives with a high degree of morale and to the satisfaction of those concerned with it. Electricity is an essential infrastructure for the economic development. PGVCL is considered as an important instrument in the development process and its effective performance is vital for our economy. Human resources management in PGVCL could play, therefore, an important role in order to initiate measures to make PGVCL operationally productive. though, because of irregularity of coal supply and rain and other unavoidable reasons, installed capacity of PGVCL is not adequately utilized and on other hand due to rapid industrial, agricultural and population growth, demand of power has rapidly increased. In additional to this, while transmitting and distributing power to the fastest corner of the Saurashtra Region, T and D losses occur. The PGVCL has, therefore, to purchase power from different sources in order to meet the power demand. In order to increase total power available for sales, govt. of Gujarat has encouraged generation of power in the private sectors in its power policy. Govt. grants various subsidies to the PGVCL for compensating the loss incurred to it because of supplying power at affordable or concessional rate. If credit of various subsidies received from govt. is to be deducted from profit of the PGVCL, the PGVCL has not arrived at profit.en_US
