Abstract: | The research aims to analyze the role of Job Satisfaction as a mediator of the relationship between Strategic Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in educational institutions. In an effort to meet this objective, a study was conducted on the faculty of educational institutions. The research instruments used in the survey questionnaire are: 1. Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence test (MSCEIT), 2002 2. Wong s Job Satisfaction Survey, 2010 3. Organ s Organizational Citizenship Behavior, 1988. Two hundred and fifty six responses were obtained from the faculty of thirteen institutions on the whole. Strategic Emotional Intelligence disclosed two reliable factors viz., Understanding Emotions and Managing Emotions. Job Satisfaction emerged as a one-dimensional reliable scale. Factor analysis revealed two reliable factors for Organizational Citizenship Behavior namely Help Oriented Behavior and Courtesy. Structural Equation Model through Visual PLS confirmed a positive association between the factors of Strategic Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction. Influence of Job Satisfaction on the two factors of Organizational Citizenship Behavior was also confirmed through the analysis. Direct influence of the factors of Strategic Emotional Intelligence on the factors of Organizational Citizenship Behavior was also exposed through the Structural Equation Model in Visual PLS. The same methodology was adopted to test the role of Job Satisfaction as a mediator of the relationship between Strategic Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Citizenship Behavior. The results revealed that Job Satisfaction does not play a mediating role of the above relationships. Very little significant difference in the scores of the above relationships was discovered for various demographic details with respect to gender, age, department, experience of the faculty and educational qualification of the faculty. |
