Abstract: | The thesis embodies the work conducted on the isoflavonoids of Iris kashmiriana (Vouch. No. UD/1986-413, SMPU RRIUM), family Iridaceae . which is native to the newlineState of Jammu and Kashmir. After giving a brief introduction on the importance of the current study previous findings on the Chemistry of the genus Iris is outlined. newlineThe methanolic extract of the bulbous roots of the plant has afforded fifteen isoflavonoids. Six of these isoflavonoids are new to the chemical literature . The new isoflavonoids have been designated as iris kashmirianin, iso-iris kashmirianin, isocladrastin, kashmigenin, isodurristone and tectorigenal . |
