dc.description.abstract | The availability of wide variety of products to the customers at economical rates has condensed the life cycle of production system in the current competitive scenario. So, effective and dynamic production systems are essential in the today s competitive atmosphere for the manufacturing organizations. Moreover, the manufacturing organizations are fronting the problems of selecting the correct manufacturing strategy in different stages of production system life (PSLC). The selection decisions in different stages of PSLC are more multifarious as the managers or decision makers has to evaluate a wide range of decision alternatives on the basis of different conflicting attributes. Though, in the past few decades, decision making in certain stages of PSLC have been explored by various authors but it is not widespread in all stages of production system life cycle. This has necessitated the design and development of quality enabled system in life cycle of production system. In view of this, various critical factors (known as quality enabled factors) in different stages of PSLC has been identified and analyzed by using systematic approaches. newlineQuality enabled factors (QEFs) are those factors whose consideration in the decision making process will improve the quality of decisions in different stages of PSLC. Hence, various QEFs for different stages of PSLC have been identified through literature analysis and opinions of experts. Then, Interpretive Structural Modelling methodology has been used to depict the driving power and dependence power diagram of QEFs for different stages of PSLC. Afterwards, Analytic Hierarchy Process approach has been used for the prioritization of QEFs of PSLC in order to evaluate their impact in PSLC decisions. Then, Graph Theoretic Approach has been applied for the quantification of QEFs of PSLC. At last, a methodology for the selection of best decision alternative in different stages of PSLC has been developed by using systematic approaches i.e. integrated GTA-ISM-MOORA/PSI approaches. | |
