Abstract: INFORMATION ACCESS AND USE PATTERN OF FACULTY AND RESEARCH SCHOLARS OF EDUCATION IN THE UNIVERSITIES OF TAMILNADU newlineINTRODUCTION newlineA library is a collection of sources, resources, and services, and the structure in which it is housed; it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual. One of the main goals of libraries is to provide pin pointed, exhaustive and expeditious information to users. In order to achieve this goal, various pieces of recorded information in printed and electronic forms are gathered in the libraries and qualified personnel are recruited to establish purposive contact between the users and the information embodied in a variety of documents. The library is the most important intellectual resource of the academic community. The academic library system constitutes faculty, students, research scholars and educational administrators. The academic libraries help their users for self development for fulfillment of curriculum requirements and for promotion of study and research . For the fulfillment of the requirements of the users, these libraries procure the information, available in various forms like processing and storing the information and maintaining it to disseminate to the community in various ways like issue of books, information through network, online public access system, etc. newlineOBJECTIVES: The following are the objectives to be accomplished. and#61656; To study the information use pattern of the Faculty and Research Scholars of Education in the Universities of Tamilnadu. and#61656; To find out the Information needs and purpose for which the information accessed by the respondents. and#61656; To measure the productivity of the researchers and faculty of education in the Universities surveyed. and#61656; To find out the various library collections and services rendered by the libraries surveyed. and#61656; To suggest the changing needs of the users and consequently all the facilities to be added in the library. and#61656; To ascertain the level of information literacy among the facu
