Abstract: | The topic chosen for research study is Electronic Waste and Techno-stress newlineamong Library Professionals in Engineering Colleges at Chennai . At the present newlinescenario, almost all engineering colleges have been equipped with all types of newlineadvanced infrastructure to attract the students from all over the world for admission newlineto engineering courses. The students are more impressed by the building newlineinfrastructure and other modern facilities for their advanced education and choose newlinesuch colleges. Hence, almost all engineering colleges offering education on all newlineadvanced fields have provided all kinds of facilities for the students. Since the newlineEngineering Colleges are equipped with modern gadgets for disseminating newlineinformation. When using different types of electronic equipments such as Computers, newlinePrinters, Laptop, etc, there also arise a situation of generating Electronic Waste and newlineTechnostress. The Study focuses different issues pertaining to E-Waste and newlineTechnostress among Library Professionals in Engineering Colleges at Chennai. newlineThis research study has been divided into five chapters. newlineIn the first chapter being introductory, it dealt with the importance of the newlinepresent computer age, which is otherwise is called Age of Information, the newlinedevelopment taken place in the field of information technology and its consequences, newlinethe need for information technology, the problems, which the Indian students during newlinetheir study and the teachers at the time of their teaching face, the steps taken by the newlinemanagement to cater to the needs of the teachers and the taught. The term Electronic newlineWaste (E-waste), brought to light the mushroom growth of computer markets in newlineIndia, and the salient features of E-waste inventory both in India and in Tamilnadu. newlineThe introduction chapter also list the places of the major sources of Electronic Waste newline(E-waste) and the main causes for it.
