dc.description.abstractThe study aims to develop a framework for HRD practices in Indian public and private sector banks and its impact on employees managerial effectiveness. Banks are vital for the growth of Indian economy. In the 21st century competitiveness implies delivering value to the customers and being responsive and proactive to the needs of the customers. HRD intervention are time bound and tailor-made for the specific problems of any organization and therefore HRD intervention in the present study is dealt as HRD practices. HRD practices is a major tool available to banks to innovate and increase their competitiveness. The global economy is increasingly becoming dependent on trained, skilled and developed Human Resource. However the Indian banks have yet to reap the immense benefit of various HRD practices to increase the employees managerial effectiveness. In view of the above, study of HRD practices responsible for managerial effectiveness is an important subject. The study is based on public and private sector banks of India. It is unique in the sense that heterogeneity of banks is considered and HRD practices are analyzed for the public and private sector banks separately. Inter sectoral difference in HRD practices and managerial effectiveness is examined and for this purpose three public sector banks and three private sector banks have been studied. Relationship of impact of HRD practices on managerial effectiveness is empirically studied. A framework consisting of qualitative and quantitative tools has been used in the study. Standard questionnaire for HRD practices and managerial effectiveness was adopted and the same has been administered to 356 managers of selected banks across Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region).en_US
