Studies on Smart Antennas for Wideband Wireless Networks

Abstract

Smart antenna attracts immense attention while implementing it in the wideband newlinewireless communication systems, highlighting the importance of these techniques in Wireless Interoperability Microwave Access (WiMAX), which consists of Orthogonal Frequency newlineDivision Multiplexing (OFDM)-based system. newlineBasics of smart antennas are deliberated in detail. Smart antenna types are presented with phased arrays and adaptive arrays. Switched beam and adaptive antenna techniques are explained with appropriate diagrams. The advantages and disadvantages of switched beam and adaptive antenna are also talked about. It is premeditated that adaptive antenna are superior to switched beam antennas. newlineThe analysis of smart antenna using Direction of Arrival (DOA), and adaptive newlinebeamforming algorithms has also been studied.
