Effect of wastewater on selected vegetables with special reference to heavy metal accumulation

newline Abstract of the thesis, submitted to Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India for the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Botany, in the year 2015. newlineThis study was conducted at the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. newlineThe objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of selected vegetables in relation to wastewater irrigation and application of various levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer on the selected vegetables irrigated with wastewater. A total of seven pot expeiments, designated to achieve the objectives were conducted according to factorial completely randomized design during the rabi season of 2009-2011 to assess the suitability of wastewater (50 and 100% wastewater) as a source of irrigation and nutrients over groundwater on fenugreek cv. desi , spinach cv. all green, radish cv. pusa reshmi and carrot cv. pusa rudhira. This study also highlights that the effect of wastewater and fertilizers (N, P and K) were additives for fenugreek and radish.....
