Abstract: The present study mainly intended to find out the influence of certain Socio-Psychological Factors on the Vocational Skill Attainment of Orthopaedically Handicapped Adolescents. This will bring into light, to what extent the Socio-Psychological factors can and will affect the Vocational Skill Attainment of the students. The study has been designed with Social Factors (Socio-Economic Status and Home Environment) and Psychological Factors (Self- Concept and Achievement Motivation) as independent variables and Vocational Skill Attainment as dependent variable. Hence the Investigator adopted normative method for the present investigation in which survey is the technique used. Considering the nature of the study, stratified random sampling technique was used. The sample for the present study includes 200 Orthopaedically Handicapped Adolescents with mild handicap (below 40 %) from selected nine Vocational Training Centres for Handicapped in Kerala. They were completing their two years training in typewriting and ready to appear for the final examination. Objectives and hypotheses were formulated and suitable statistical techniques such as Arithmetic Mean, Standard Deviation, ANOVA, Scheffe s F-Test, Significant Mean Difference, Co-efficient of Correlation, Significance of r , Significant Difference between r s and Multiple Regression Equation were computed. The tools used for the study were the Vocational Skill Attainment Tests , Socio-Economic Status Scale , Family Environment Index Inventory , Family Cultural Level Rating Scale , Home Learning Facility Inventory , Family Acceptance of Education Rating Scale , Kerala Self-Concept Scale and Kerala Scale of Achievement Motivation . Major Conclusions and Suggestions were given on the basis of the Analysis of the Data.
