Abstract: Pulses are the most important leguminous crops because of vegetable protein newlinesource. Largest producers as well as consumers of pulses are the South-Asian newlinecountries where chick pea, mung bean and pigeon pea are grown at large scale. Mung newlinebean, an important pulse crop, belongs to the family Fabaceae. Besides a rich source newlineof protein, contains vitamin A, iron, calcium, Zn, and folate. The root-knot nematode newlineMeloidogyne incognita proved to be the potential pest of Vigna radiata, which newlinereduced the quantity and quality of the crop produce. Keeping in view of severity of newlinepathogen infestation and economic importance of Vigna radiata, experiments were newlineconducted with the following objectives: newline1. Isolation of the pathogen and its maintenance. newline2. For precised assessment involving disease severity and nematode reproduction, newlinethe study was aimed to determine the effects of different inoculum levels of M. newlineincognita on growth and yield and biochemical parameters. newline3. Histopathological studies of nematode infected V. radiata plants. The aim was newlineto observe anatomical changes occurring at different inoculum levels i.e. 200, newline400, 800, and 1,600 J2 per pot. newline4. Establishment of relationship between the host plant, V. radiata and the newlinebiocontrol fungus G. intraradices was studied. The aim was to find out the most newlineeffective sequence of inoculation of fungus to minimize the nematode newlineinfestation. newline5. Fly ash was used to amend the soil, with the aim to find the appropriate level of newlinefly ash, detrimental for the nematode and supportive for plant growth and yield. newline6. Glomus intraradices was applied in fly ash amended soil, infested with newlinenematode, to observe the improvement in growth and yield parameters of the newlinehost plant, and effect on nematode population newline7. Rhizobium sp. (mung bean strain), Bacillus subtilis and Glomus intraradices newlinewere applied in different combinations, at optimum level of fly ash, to maximise newlinethe crop yield, and minimise the nematode infestation. newline
