Studies on the perfomance of Ongole x exotic crossbred cattle

Abstract

A study was undertaken to find out the optimum level of exotic inheritance and the effect of combination of breeds fc high productive and reproductive performance and to know the amount of genetic progress likely to be achieved if selection had been practiced in halfbreds and the selected halfbreds were mated to another exotic breed to produce three way cross. The data available on growth, productive and reproductive performance of 197 F0, 95 80, 83 J0, 67 F J0, 66 JF0, 52 FB0 and 45 BF0 cattle that were maintained at All India Coordinated Research Project on cattle, Lam Farm (Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University), Guntur, Andhra Pradesh were utilized for this study. newline
