dc.description.abstract | The present study is a comprehensive study of crime and crime prevention in Haryana. The study emphasized on the concept, trends and methods of crime prevention and statistics of the selected crimes in Haryana. In addition, the study focused on assessing the perception of citizens about the role of police in crime prevention in Haryana. newlineLikewise, police perceptions regarding the crime prevention measures in Haryana were also studied. The main objectives of the study are classification and trends of crime; different measures of crime prevention used by Police in Haryana; Assess the perception of citizens about crime prevention measures; Know the perception of police newlineabout crime prevention measures; and suggest measures to improve the effectiveness of crime prevention in selected cities in Haryana. This study discussed the concept, classification and trends of crime in India with respect to the selected cities i.e. Panchkula, Ambala and Faridabad of Haryana. In addition, comparison of crime statistics was done to examine the crime rates in India, Haryana and all the three selected cities. Primary data was also collected through questionnaires and interview schedule from the citizens and police personnel respectively with regards to crime trends in Haryana. Moreover, the study examined the concept of crime prevention and methods of crime prevention. Further, crime prevention programs adopted by various countries and crime prevention methods used by police in India was discussed. The perception of citizens was recorded with regards to crime prevention measures adopted by police in the three selected cities i.e. Panchkula, Ambala and Faridabad city of Haryana were recorded. In addition, the study included the perception of police with help of interview schedules regarding the newlinepolice performance in crime prevention in Haryana with respect to the selected cities i.e. Panchkula, Ambala and Faridabad of Haryana. At the end, the study summarized the major findings of the study. | |
