Abstract

The thesis titled quotStatus of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy in Odisha: Study of Perspectives and Practicesquot delves into the current landscape of foundational literacy and numeracy in Odisha, examining various perspectives and educational practices, with a specific focus on four strategically chosen districts-Jagatsinghpur (Eastern), Kalahandi (Western), Mayurbhanj (Northern), and Gajapati (Southern). Employing a descriptive survey method, the research adopts a stratified random sampling approach. Drawing insights from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NIPUN Bharat initiative, and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), the study addresses the challenges and opportunities in enhancing early learning outcomes. The study encompasses a diverse range of participants, including 80 schools, 800 class-3 learners, 80 Headmasters, 160 teachers, 80 CRCCs, 400 parents, and 400 community members. This comprehensive sampling strategy ensures representation from various regions, providing a nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities in foundational literacy and numeracy across Odisha. newline
