dc.description.abstract | Internet of Things or IOTs is a network of all physical appliances used in our daily life embedded with computer chips and insulators and are connected with one-another sharing, storing, disseminating data and information in real-time to perform coordinating tasks between the devices. Technological determinism seems perfect to a common man but to philosophy, it poses many questions. Technological determinism is the concept in which features of technology determines its use and role of the progressive society. Though IOT s can make human life very easy but it also poses some serious concerns. The question as to how we are related to technological devices is a query that cannot be answered through an analysis of the technological devices. It is the question that goes deeper into our Being (is-ness) and thinking. Technology acts as a connecting means between the human and nature and technological artifacts co-shape our actions and perception e.g. cars co shape the perception of distance, cell phone co-shape the way we socialize with each other and microwave co-shapes eating habits and family life. In this context, the present research project is a humble attempt to analyze and understand the underlying essence of technology particularly in the context of internet of things. Do technology posses any essence, if so and it cannot be technological; then what is it? Secondly, in this data-driven technological world, there are issues like surveillance, data breach and breach of rights and privacy of the consumers of technology. We are using technology from the times of the origination of human civilization but in the present time of the technological abundance, the questions concerning these technologies become a more imperative and obligatory task of philosophy to critically examine and analyze the unconcealed side of these technologies. newline | |
