dc.description.abstract | newline In light of the current status of Urbanization and Sustainable newlineDevelopment Goals (SDGs), the present thesis entitled Urban Geology for newlineSustainable Development of Cities using Geospatial and Subsurface Modelling newlineTechniques: A Case Study on Amaravati Region, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, newlineIndia aims to address how important is geology in sustainable urban newlineplanning. To begin with the study, an extensive review of the literature was newlinecarried out for an understanding of the extant literature on Urban Geology, newlinegeospatial tools and subsurface geological modelling in sustainable urban newlinedevelopment. The foremost objective of this research is to understand the newlinegeology, geomorphology, and seismotectonics of the Amaravati region. The newlinesecond objective is to analyze land use and land cover patterns over twelve newlineyears using remote sensing and GIS tools. The third objective is to evaluate the newlinegroundwater potential of the study area using geospatial studies. The fourth newlineobjective is to attempt the subsurface geological modelling of the study area newlineand to generate baseline data related to sustainable development. The last newlineobjective is to suggest a sustainable model for the study area using the data newlinegenerated towards sustainable development and present the status of the newlineAmaravati region as of today with recommendations for sustainable growth. | |
