Abstract: | The study aims to discuss recent Indian English writing has made an effort to convey Indian culture, custom, social ideals, and even Indian history via portrayals of life in India and among Indians living abroad as well as through giving voice to the Indian perspective on current events. The thesis aims to discuss English-language writing by Indian authors has received widespread acclaim and is flourishing both domestically. As a result, new myths and customs, rituals and ceremonies, ways of thinking, etc. The great Indian authors who have written in English have created works that are entirely unique, really Indian in subject and character, rather than just replicating English literary norms, as can be observed from their bodies of work. newlineThe present study focuses on how hijra community suffered in establishing their gender identity even when their family supported them. The identity of transgender is one of the greatest social issues within India threatening the progress of the country. Over a decade in India, the issue of transgender has been under literary discussions and researches in both social and cultural context where third gender equality is many miles away from the development of mainstream of society to be assimilated because gender stratification much exists in every walks of life as one of the barriers prevailing within the social structure of India. These writers came with a freshness of ideas, concepts, and themes and threw light on Indian writing in English Literature as a frontrunner in the literary world. A. Revathi, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Jhimli Mukherjee Pandey and Bandyopadhyay s novels selected for these studies are: I am Vidya by Living Smile Vidya (2007), The Truth about Me: A Hijra Life story (2010), Me Hijra, Me Laxmi (2015) and A Gift of Goddess Lakshmi (2017). newlineThe first chapter Introduction deals with regarding the author s works in recent transgender memoirs include Me Hijra, Me Laxmi by Laxmi Narayan Tripathi (2015), The Truth About Me by A Revathi (2010), and I Am Vidya |
