Abstract: High voltage transmission lines must take into account network safety, redundancy, and economic considerations. Electrical insulators are used in high-voltage newlinetransmission lines to secure conductors to the tower and transport power over great newlinedistances. The line conductors are supported by and electrically isolated from the ground newlineby insulators. As the transmission voltages of EHV and UHV systems increase, the newlinereliability and integrity of the insulation become increasingly important. The aging newlineperformance of the polymeric insulators is found to be deteriorating. Despite the fact that polymeric insulators have various advantages. newline
