Abstract: 9. Abstract : Introduction:- newlineThe statistics of census 2011 reveal that the PWDs in India have grown by 22 percent, from newline21.9 million to 26.8 million (from 2.19 crore to newline2.68 crore) in the last decade. Studies have reported that the prevalence of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) was nearly 12% in Indian children aged 2-9 years, providing a much-needed peek into some of the major health problems faced by the country. It was observed that there is a lack of awareness of NDD among parents and professionals in India. Neurodevelopmental disability (NDD) is a much- ignored area, and the information needs of such children and their families need to be identified. Failure to fully address patients and their families information requirements can lead to significant stress and anxiety. There is a great need to inquire into the needs of NDD children, their parents, and newlinethe psychosocial impact of disability on society. newline newlineStudies have shown that parents lack emotional and informational support at all levels. To strengthen this movement, a study of available resources, preferred sources of information, information-seeking behavior, and barriers incurred in information gathering needs to be carried out. newlineThe review of the literature reveals that both in India and abroad, information needs studies are undertaken by health professionals, psychologists, and educators.
