Abstract: The present study was conducted in the Malwa region of Punjab, India during the years 2018 to 2021. During investigation 120 angiosperm species were documented as weed species from different kharif crops (rice, maize, cotton, sorghum and sugarcane) and 72 species from different rabi crops (wheat, mustard, gram, berseem and sugarcane). Morphological features such as stem, leaf, flower, fruit, seed etc. were examined for accurate identification. This Inventorization of weed species provides information about the regional flora of the study area. Thirty (30) weed species belonging to 17 genera and 10 families were selected for examination of chromosome number. The pollen viability of these species was also estimated by the acetocarmine staining technique. The phytochemical profile of sixteen (16) weed species was also studied. newline
