Abstract: newline In the present work preparation of activated carbon by KOH activation method was investigated the result of work explained that at optimum condition of temperature 450°C the resultant carbon has all required qualities such as high surface area. And favorable micropore volume using BET method. The chemical activation of raw precursor using KOH required low energy as compared to phosphoric acid activation. With the help of SEM, FT-IR and XRD technique resultant samples were analyzed and result of characterization describe that well developed pore on surface of carbon and attachment of potassium atom on the carbon surface that formed crystalline structure of resultant carbon which proved by X-RD peaks. For ammonia and hardness parameter, analyses the water quality of Kunda River from specific sites in different season. For determination of ammonia Nessler method was used that based on absorbance process in UV visible spectroscopy at 430 nm wavelength the maximum absorbance value was obtained. Hardness of river water was calculated with using by EDTA method for river water. The value of ammonia and hardness parameter was high. Both parameters affect the adsorption activity of activated carbon it was observed that KOH activated carbon in spite of low surface area in alkaline medium was present in the river water under the considerable level. The BET surface area of activated carbon and without activated was comparatively studied and it was found that activation process of raw precursor was occurred in effective way. Due to high removal value of ammonia from river water sample. The resultant carbon was used to study combine effect of hardness and ammonia during adsorption process of resultant carbon. The separation process was analyze through Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption curve. newlineThe regression coefficient value R2 for Freundlich was more favorable as compared to Langmuir. The high value of R2 for Freundlich explained that data of separation was properly fitted in the graph. From present study it i
