Abstract: | Antenna is a vital part of any wireless communication systems. There newlineare many types of printed antennas based on the geometrical structure of the newlineradiating element and the feeder line. The conformal nature of the printed newlineantenna makes it a suitable radiator for Internet of Things, device-to-device newlinecommunication, unmanned aerial vehicle, and mobile transceiver applications. newlineThis thesis explores the radiation characteristics of three types of printed newlineantennas that are simple, conformal, and fabrication-friendly. newlineMicrostrip or coplanar line is used in most of the printed antennas as a newlinefeeder line. These kinds of feeding techniques require a large or defected ground newlineplane in the case of microstrip line feeding or need a lateral ground plane for the newlinecoplanar line feeding. This requirement makes the integration of antennas with newlineRF systems or any electronic gadget an inconvenient task, as all electronic newlinegadgets have parallel line tracks in their Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). newlineMoreover, newlinethis newlineunbalanced newlinefeeding newlinemechanism induces newlineElectromagnetic (EM) interference due to the loosely coupled fields. This issue newlineis addressed in this thesis by using a balanced parallel line feeding technique, newlinewhere the fields are tightly coupled within the line. This feeding technique newlinefacilitates the integration of antenna with the PCB conveniently. newlineThe balanced parallel line feeding mechanism is employed in all three newlinekinds of printed antennas proposed in this thesis, namely the parallel newlinetri-functional strip line fed dual band printed antenna, the dual-WiMAX band newlineprinted antenna, and the WiMAX-WiFi band parallel strip fed printed antenna. newline |
