Abstract: The research work requires conducting comprehensive investigations on thermally aged liquid insulations to assess the characteristics and performance of transformers. It is necessary to analyze the impact of accelerated aging on the insulation systems of transformers under abnormal operating conditions. The research aims to evaluate the properties of liquid insulations and their ability to withstand thermal stresses. The study includes analyzing the degradation byproducts, such as moisture, acid, contaminants, and oxygen, that contribute to the formation of sludge and the deterioration of solid insulation. Furthermore, it is essential to explore the effectiveness of different concentrations of anti-oxidizing agents, including Di-Benzyl Di-Sulphide (DBDS), and Passivators such as Benzene Tri-Azole (BTA) and IRGAMET-39, in delaying the degradation of both the cellulosic material and the oil. Additionally, the research investigates the potential benefits of utilizing nanofluids and environmentally friendly natural esters, such as coconut oil, as alternative liquid insulations in transformers. The aim is to understand how these materials can enhance the longevity and performance of transformers while addressing environmental concerns. The findings of the research will contribute to advancements in transformer design and insulation systems, leading to more reliable and efficient transformer technologies. newlineThe present study aimed to establish appropriate diagnostic methods for copper corrosion by benchmarking the dielectric properties of paper oil insulation under the influence of parameters such as temperature, moisture, contaminants, and oil additives. Finite Element Method (FEM) based simulation of the electric field was carried out, supported by laboratory experiments.
