Abstract: | The thesis entitled Synthesis of Natural Products from Chiral Aziridines and Development newlineof New Synthetic Methodologies deals with the synthesis of Nitrogen containing natural newlineproduct from chiral three membered nitrogen containing heterocyclic compound known as newlineaziridine and development of new methods for the synthesis of new carbon-carbon and carbon newlinenitrogen bond in aza-aromatics. newlineThe research work in this thesis is divided into two parts which are sub-divided into five chapters newlineas given below: newlinePART A: Synthesis of Natural product newlineThis part of the thesis describes the synthesis of natural product from chiral aziridine through the newlinering expansion of the three-membered heterocyclic ring to its higher analogues. This part of the newlinethesis is divided into three chapters i.e. chapter 1, chapter 2 and chapter 3. newlineChapter 1: Introduction newlineThis chapter introduces and explains about the aziridine ring system, its ring strain and its ring newlineopening in the presence of different nucleophiles. The ring opening reaction of aziridine ring of newlineany azoniabicyclic compound leads to the formation of different products which are the key newlinemoieties of many biologically activated compounds. One of such structure is the piperidine ring newlinesystem, which is present as the core structure of many biologically active alkaloids. Lastly this newlinechapter introduces pipecolic acid and its stereoisomers along with their biological activities. newlineChapter 2: Literature Review newlineThis chapter summarizes the previous approaches for the ring opening reactions of aziridine ring newlineusing various nucleophiles, previous approaches for the synthesis of different types of alkaloids newlinewith piperidine ring as the core structure from the ring opening of funtionalized aziridnes and newlinealso the previous approaches for the synthesis of Pipecolic acids from different starting materials. |
