Abstract: India is a country with different cultures, different religions, and different types of people. Different newlinepeople use different languages. In India, approximately 22 languages are used. Gujarati is one of the newlinelanguages used in India. In Gujarat, most of the communication is in Gujarati. Most of the documents newlineand literature are written in Gujarati. The government offices, private offices, documents of business, newlinetransactions, and correspondence were using Gujarati for communication. Today, we are using newlinecomputers for all the tasks to be performed. That gives us digital data, which is easily available newlineanywhere. If we want to convert all previously generated documents to digital copies, we need a newlinecharacter recognition system for Gujarati characters. OCR is a widely researched area for researchers. newlineThere are many researchers working on different types of OCR. OCR can recognize printed newlinecharacters. For handwritten characters, handwritten character recognition needs to be designed. newlineHandwritten character recognition can recognize characters, modifiers of characters, joint characters, newlineand numerals written in Gujarati. The research presented here is concentrated on the recognition of newlinemodifiers in handwritten character recognitions. The Guajarati character set includes 34 consonants, 12 vowels, and 14 modifiers. The research is newlinefocusing on recognition of modifiers associated with consonants. The work done by other researchers newlineare observed and analyzed to get idea for our research. The research is divided in three parts, 1. Preprocessing 2. Model implementation; and 3. Analysis and result generation. To start implementation newlineof Gujarati Handwritten Character Recognition System (GHCR), first need data for dataset newlinegeneration. Dataset must contain variety of data that can be useful for recognition system. Data newlinecollection is done using a form of 27 rows and 18 columns of cells of size 1 X 1 cm. Data is collected newlinefrom different ages to get a variety of data. newline
