Abstract: | This study titled An Empirical Study of Organizational Power and Politics and Their Impact on Employees Performance in the Power Sector in GSECL Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited explores the effects of organizational power dynamics and political behavior on the professional effectiveness of employees at GSECL By conducting an extensive literature review of over 80 scholarly articles from various regions, including South Asia, West Asia, North America, Europe Africa and Australia, the research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Key variables identified in the literature include job satisfaction, job stress, job frustration, general political behavior and influencing power authority. The study also examines training and development as a moderating variablesuggesting that proper training can mitigate the adverse effects of workplace politics and power misuse. A sample of 575 employees was analyzed using regression analysis and correlation techniques to establish relationships between organizational power, politics, and employee performance. Findings reveal that organizational politics and the unauthorized use of power significantly diminish job satisfaction leading to increased stress and frustration among employees. Although many employees feel secure in their jobs and pay structures, limiting their willingness to quit, some express readiness to change departments or work locations to escape negative political environments. Additionally the results indicate a strong need for training programs to help employees manage daily challenges and foster a positive work atmosphere, ultimately enhancing their professional effectiveness and overall job satisfaction. |
