Abstract: The aim of this work is to design and develop efficient controller for newlineDSTATCOM with different Topologies for power quality enhancement. newlineVarious results for different Topologies and controllers are compared to identify newlinethe one with the best performance. newlineThree level topologies have become more significant for photovoltaic newline(PV) applications in medium power applications. Compared to two level newlinetopologies, they offer a number of benefits. The waveform of the output voltage newlineis approximated to be closer to the required sine waveform by adding a third newlinevoltage level, and the current THD can be decreased. As a result, strict newlinerequirements for grid quality can be met more easily. newlineThis thesis analyses various voltage source inverter system topologies on newlinethree levels. The fundamental functioning, switching order, control scheme, and newlinepower losses of the Neutral Point Piloted (NPP), T-NPC, Mixed Voltage newlineNeutral Point Clamped (MNPC), and Active Neutral Point Clamped (ANPC) newlinetopologies are first described. Through simulation, the power losses and newlineefficiency of three distinct three-level inverter topologies in various operating newlinestates are compared and examined. newlineThe neutral point piloted (NPP) or half-leg T-type multilevel inverter newline(MLI) topology has recently gained popularity. Due to its straightforward newlinedesign and lack of clamping diodes, this T-type MLI is the perfect replacement newlinefor a DCMLI.However, balancing the dc bus capacitors or controlling the neutral point newlinevoltage of the NPP T-type MLI is a difficult operation. As a result, the newlinedistribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) reference current control and dc newlinelink voltage balance nonlinear sliding mode controllers (SMC) are presented in newlinethis study. newlineIn order to resolve current-related power quality concerns such newlineharmonics, reactive power, load unbalance, and neutral current, a three-level T- newlinetype MLI based three-phase four-wire DSTATCOM is taken into consideration.
