Abstract: Micronuclei, small cytoplasmic bodies formed outside the nucleus, are triggered newlineby various genotoxic agents capable of harming chromosomes. The micronucleus test newlineserves as a valuable indicator of genotoxic exposure, as it correlates with chromosome newlineabnormalities. Specifically, the buccal cell micronucleus assay offers insights into newlinecytogenic damage within tissues vulnerable to human carcinogens, potentially leading newlineto carcinoma formation. newline1. To evaluate and compare the frequency of micronuclei in the smears of exfoliated newlinecells from normal oral mucosa, smokers, tobacco chewers, potentially malignant newlinedisorders and malignant lesions using H and E and PAP stains. newline2. To examine for the presence of cytological atypia in the exfoliated oral mucosal newlinecells from normal oral mucosa, smokers, tobacco chewers, potentially malignant newlinedisorders and malignant lesions using PAP and H and E stains. newline3. To assess and compare the accuracy of measuring the micronuclei frequency newlineusing PAP and H and E stains. newline4. To assess and correlate micronuclei formation with age and gender. newline5. To assess and examine the association of smoking and smokeless tobacco with newlinemicronuclei formation. newline6. To examine the association of age, gender and tobacco use with micronuclei newlineformation in oral exfoliated cells using multiple regression model newline
