Abstract: | Environmental consciousness is visible in Indian literature since ancient times. This aspect of consciousness has been rich in literature from Vedic literature to modern times. The orators have presented environmental consciousness in a spiritual manner in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, a symbol of inter-religion harmony in the Indian society. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikhism, writes Pavnu Guru Paani Pita Mata Dharti Mahatu. newlineWhile doing research work under the title of SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB MEIN PARYAVARAN CHETNA it is known that the spirit of harmony is inherent here. The words of saints and devotees of different caste-communities, from various regions of India have been compiled, which is a direct example of coordination. How human relations have been linked with the environment in Indian society is mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. newlineWhile on one hand social harmony, goodwill and casteism have been refuted in this huge book, at the same time an attempt has also been made to connect man with the environment. The person has been made conscious towards all the creatures, animals and birds, earth, trees and plants, mountains, rivers, sea, fruits and flowers. newlineGurbani has the ability to encompass global vision and environmental consciousness. The value of human life, along with satisfying the various curiosities of a person, the feeling of spiritual awakening is also presented here. newline |
