Abstract: newline Abstract newlineAs Information Technology makes impact nearly in every aspect of our lives especially newlinewith the emergence of web applications especially ecommerce and social networking newlinewebsites, the amount of data generated and stored continues to grow at a very high rate newlinewhich necessitates the improved data security policies and mechanisms in order to ensure newlinethat the data transmission is safe and secure across the networks. Advances in mobile and newlinepervasive computing, and the exponential growth in Internet applications and services newlinehave lead to the development of the next generation of Internet services (Internet of newlineThings, IoT) that are pervasive, ubiquitous, and touch all aspects of our life. Network newlinesecurity refers to all the characteristics, features, measures, operational procedures, newlineprotocols , policies and practices required to monitor an unauthorized access to data and newlineto provide an acceptable level of protection for transmission of data across the networks newlineand at the same time preserve the, integrity , availability and confidentiality of newlineinformation. Adapt Dynamic adaptation newlineallows the system to modify its own behavior, at runtime. Thus self adaptive network newlinesecurity is considered as an automatic runtime modification of the security policies, newlinemethods and mechanisms employed to secure the data. The idea of an autonomic network newlineis still evolving as experts look at how data mining and similar concepts can be used to newlinegive networks more tools for self-sustainability. In spite of all the security products newlineavailable today (mostly non-adaptive), on-going efforts and current solutions, it is known newlinefact that security across networks is not adequate. Automated runtime security adaptation newlinehas great potential in providing timely and fine grained security control. newlineThis thesis proposes an autonomic or self adaptive model for network security. newlineAutonomic network security is a kind of self-configuring or self-optimizing network that newlineuses feedback loops to make changes to the existing network security . An autonomic
