Abstract: | This study investigates the impact of information technology on the acquisition of print resources in state, deemed, and private university libraries in Bangalore. Information technology (IT) has significantly impacted library resources and services in Indian universities. IT implementation has revolutionized information handling in academic libraries, enhancing access to resources and eliminating routine tasks. University libraries in Karnataka have adopted various IT tools, including computers, networks, and online information retrieval systems. As digital advancements rapidly evolve, libraries face increasing pressures and opportunities to integrate these technologies into their resource acquisition processes. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from surveys with qualitative insights from interviews with library professionals. The study reveals significant differences in how state, deemed, and private universities utilize information technology for print resource acquisition. State university libraries show a more traditional approach with incremental technological adoption, while deemed and private universities demonstrate more aggressive integration, leveraging advanced tools for efficient procurement and management. The findings highlight the influence of institutional resources, administrative support, and technology infrastructure on acquisition strategies. Overall, IT has revolutionized information handling in academic libraries, improving access to resources and service quality. The study concludes that while information technology enhances efficiency and broadens access to print resources, the extent and nature of its impact vary across different types of institutions. Recommendations are provided for optimizing technology use to improve print resource acquisition processes in diverse university setting innovations you intend to pursue. Taking those key issues as a background, you then present briefly your research statement, your proposed research approach... |
