Abstract: | In the present study was aimed the personality traits, coping strategies and quality of life newlineamong patients of depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Both depression and newlineobsessive compulsive disorder are chronic and challenging mental health conditions. Some newlinepersonality traits are more related to the task oriented coping while some personality traits are newlinerelated to emotional coping strategies. Personality has definite negative traits like newlineneuroticism, extraversion and psychoticism and recent prospective studies have stressed newlineneuroticism as premorbid risk factor for depression. Our focus is to understand how these newlineconditions can impact an individual s personality individuals with depression may withdraw newlinefrom social situations and may feel less interested in activities they once enjoyed. OCD is newlineoften characterized by an intense need for order and control, and individual with OCD may newlinehave strong desire to achieve perfection in their thoughts or behaviors. This can lead to newlinetendency towards perfectionism or a preoccupation with details and a fear of making newlinemistakes. Depression and OCD chronic and disabling courses which compromise an newlineindividual s functioning and well-being and ultimately has rather detrimental impact on the newlinelives of both patients and their families. The quality of life represents an individual s newlinesatisfaction and functioning in various areas of life including physical, psychological, social newlineand environmental areas. The need of this research is add to the growing literature personality newlinehas its limitations; it has contributed significantly to our understanding of the role of newlinepersonality traits, coping strategies and also quality of life effects on individual s behavior newlineand experiences. It may also fail to account for the impact of situational factors on an newlineindividual s behavior, as well as the influences of cultural and social factor on personality newlinedevelopment.
