Abstract: | This research investigation delves into the mechanical facets and analysis of stretch-bend failure in dissimilar joints created by connecting Ferritic Stainless Steels (FSSs) AISI 409 and AISI 430 using Ultra High-Frequency Pulsed Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (UHFP-GTA). The welding process entailed the precise manipulation of five distinct ultra-high frequency pulses, ranging from 50 Hz to 450 Hz, to evaluate their influence on joint characteristics. The study covers a diverse array of mechanical properties, microstructural attributes, angular distortion, fracture limit strain, and the coefficient of friction. The selection of AISI 409 and AISI 430 FSSs as the foundational materials stems from their widespread use across various industrial domains. They are known for their resistance to wear, cost-effectiveness, and high formability, making them key components in automotive manufacturing, industrial furnaces, heating elements, domestic appliances, and other fields. The selection of the UHFP-GTA welding method was based on its precision and control over the welding process. The study involved meticulous parameter selection for each pulse frequency to ensure optimal welding conditions.
