Duplex stainless steels are considered to the most important materials newlinein the engineering field. Duplex Stainless Steels display high corrosive newlineresistance in chloride environments due to their high level content of newlineMolybdenum, Chromium and Nitrogen. Hence they are frequently used in newlinepiping systems, vessels for chloride-containing media in the chemical newlineindustry and in high corrosive environment. Duplex Stainless Steels are newlineconsidered as one of the most tough and hard to machine materials and newlinevarious difficulties are associated during the machining of Duplex Stainless newlineSteels like poor surface roughness, tool wear, and chip breaking. The newlineinformation taken from literatures show that machining and cutting newlineparameters are essential for the dry turning of 2507 steel grades. This research newlinework provides good information about the study of machining of Duplex newlineStainless Steel during turning operation. newlineDuplex Stainless Steel 2507 was selected as the work piece for dry newlineturning operation. Machining was done using two type of tool inserts namely newlinePolycrystalline cubic boron nitride and ceramic inserts under various heat newlinetreatment methods like Infrared (IR), Ultraviolet (UV), Hot Air (HA) heating newlineand normal machining. Cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut were taken newlineas the input parameters and surface roughness, tool wear, cutting force and newlinecutting temperature were the output responses under different heating newlinemethods. L16 orthogonal array was used to optimise the outcome machining newlineparameters machined using PCBN tool insert and L20 orthogonal array was newlineused to optimise the output responses machined using ceramic newlineinsert.Response surface methodology was used for optimising the machining newlineparameters and the same was done using MINITAB software.Regression newlineanalysis equation was also calculated for all the output responses. newline
