Jammu and Kashmir are renowned for their natural and geographical beauty. This region is also unique in terms of its diverse cultural and literary heritage. The folk music of this region has been expressed in various art forms. The literary, social, cultural, and contemporary significance embedded in these songs have also been expressed. newlineMost folk songs in Jammu and Kashmir are related to rituals, love, separation, and events. Due to the diverse culture, various languages and dialects have portrayed every aspect of folk life in these songs. Different dances are performed on various occasions in this region, including Rouf, Hikat, Hafiz Nagma, Baccha Nagma, Kud, Devlag, Khadjath, Dandaras, Jagarna, Geetdu, Hiran, and Surma.
