dc.description.abstractJammu and Kashmir are renowned for their natural and geographical beauty. This region is also unique in terms of its diverse cultural and literary heritage. The folk music of this region has been expressed in various art forms. The title of the present research work is quotJAMMU TATHA KASHMIR KE LOK NRITYON MAIN PRAYUKT GEET EVAM SANGATI VADYA - EK VISHLESHNATMAK ADHYAYANquot. newlineThis study aims to analyze and evaluate the folk songs and accompanying instruments used in folk dances of Jammu and Kashmir from a musical and literary perspective. The literary, social, cultural, and contemporary significance embedded in these songs have also been expressed. newlineMost folk songs in Jammu and Kashmir are related to rituals, love, separation, and events. Due to the diverse culture, various languages and dialects have portrayed every aspect of folk life in these songs. Different dances are performed on various occasions in this region, including Rouf, Hikat, Hafiz Nagma, Baccha Nagma, Kud, Devlag, Khadjath, Dandaras, Jagarna, Geetdu, Hiran, and Surma. These folk dances reflect the rich and diverse culture of this region. newlineHowever, indifference towards these traditions is emerging among the new generation. Therefore, it is essential to preserve and promote our rich folk heritage. newlineTo achieve this, it is crucial to preserve folk music in its original form, ensuring the transmission of these invaluable traditions to future generations. newline newline
