Abstract: | The clinical incidences of inflammation and related inflammatory illnesses is steadily rising, making them a serious worldwide health concern. Since long back, naturally derived compounds have acted as base building in discovery of many new modern drug molecules, purposefully related to arthritis and various inflammations. From among the plants of Piperaceae family, Piper mullesua is well-known for containing a number of naturally occurring chemicals with potential medical benefits. The methodology presented here streamlines procedure for investigating the anti-inflammatory properties of Piper mullesua. Because of its conventionally known therapeutic benefits, Piper mullesua, nicknamed as quotMullesua, quot by natives, has been used traditionally in many medical systems native to different geographical regions. The current study underscores the need for additional research to comprehensively assess its therapeutic potential and elucidate the underlying mechanisms of action. To address this, several compounds from Piper mullesua were prepared with the goal of achieving efficacy against inflammation and arthritis. These compounds were experimented for activity causing inflammation, namely IL-6, TNF-alpha, and NO Inhibition. The objective was to identify potent inhibitors of these inflammatory mediators. Among the three compounds i.e PM208-209: Epiasrainin, PM241-250: Sesamin,PM301-310: Retrofractamide A screened for their anti-inflammatory potential, a lead compound, Epiasrainin (PM208-209), exhibited promising activity. It was in for in-depth anti-inflammatory studies in w.r.t. other compounds. newline |
