Abstract: | newline Ancient Indians, by their free will, have given a veritable treasury, in fact, the cream of Indian culture in the form of yoga. The art of healthy living physically, morally, mentally, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually has been given to us by our ancestors from time immemorial. newlineIn the time of Panini, the word Yoga got its technical meaning and he distinguished the root yuj samadhau (yuj in the sense of samadhi). Maharishi Patanjali uses Yoga as yuj as a synonym for samadhi as it is a part of Eight folded Path. newlineThe meaning of the word dharma depends on the context, and its meaning has evolved as ideas of Hinduism have developed throughout history. newlineYoga-Dharma is defined as, all those conduct, policy, duties, behaviors, and knowledge, that a Yoga-Sadhaka (Yoga-Practitioner) practices for his upliftment while following the path of yoga is Yoga Dharma or Yogic conduct. newlineWhich is qualified or suitable to uphold is Dharma. The earth is holding all living beings. Like we observe some rules, fast, etc. It means Dharma means that which is holding everyone, that is, dharayati-iti-dharma. Means the one who is taking care of everyone. The question arises who is holding or supporting what? Holding can be right as well as wrong. newline newline |
