Abstract: This thesis incorporates the synthesis and evaluation of antioxidant properties of phenolic and aminic organochalcogen compounds. Their antioxidants activities were evaluated using thiophenol and coupled-reductase assay. Catalytic mechanisms for the GPx-like activity of organoselenium compounds were proposed utilizing 77Se{1H} NMR mechanistic insights. Bis-naphthol based antioxidants demonstrated significant antibacterial properties. Diarylamine based antioxidants exhibited potent antiferroptotic activity. Furthermore, a cyclic diselenide containing BODIPY-based fluorescent probe was synthesized that showed high sensitivity and selectivity for H2O2 and t-BuOOH. Overall, the research highlights the development of novel antioxidants with promising biological applications and could be considered for therapeutic strategies in treating diseases associated with oxidative stress. newline
