Abstract: The demand for English is seen almost in every field like Politics, International newlinerelations, Media, Tourism, Education and Communication. The English language has newlinebecome a global language which is spoken all over the world. It has become a global newlinelanguage which is spoken all over the world. newlineThe Government of India started Model Schools in six thousand Educationally newlineBackward Blocks (EBBs) which have low female literacy rate, with an objective to newlineprovide free quality education predominantly to the SC, ST and OBCs hailing in that newlineparticular EBB. newlineThe study aims to explore the existing conditions in Teaching and Learning of newlineEnglish Language at Andhra Pradesh Model Schools in Zone I. Though the students newlinestudy in English Medium up to X class, they face certain problems in expressing newlinethemselves properly, effectively and freely in English. The main objective of teaching newlineEnglish at Intermediate level is to provide exposure and familiarity to the use of English newlinelanguage. newlineThe Thesis consists six chapters. Chapter I discusses the emergence of newlineEnglish language and its teaching in India; the introduction of Model Schools in Andhra newlinePradesh and their functioning. Chapter II presents a review of literature which throws newlinea light on the researches done in the field of English Language Teaching and Learning. newlineChapter III deals with Research Methodology that the investigator followed for the newlineStudy. It includes analysis on different methods of data collection, the questionnaires newlineused for the study, the details of basic data. newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam newlinev newlineChapter IV presents the analysis of the data collected through the newlinequestionnaires. The data was collected in 35 AP Model Schools in Zone I of Andhra newlinePradesh from 350 students of Intermediate and 60 English teachers. It also presents the newlinecollected information on the different challenges faced by the Teachers as well as newlineStudents in all the four different skills of teaching and learning English language. newlineChapter V deals with Findings of the research.
