Abstract: | The demand of the advanced materials like alloys and composites having high strength to weight ratio , is increasing continuously day by day to meet the needs of the various sectors like automobile, construction, nuclear stations and aeronautics. The research community is continuously exploring the material science area for the development of advance materials which exhibits higher mechanical, thermal and physical properties. Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (AMMC) has attracted a lot of attention as a result of their high demand in engineering applications since they have excellent mechanical qualities. FA/SiC/Graphite was employed as reinforcement in Al-2024 to create an Al-MMC in this investigation. To minimise the cost of composites, researchers are looking at using naturally accessible materials as reinforcement. The goal of this project is to fill a gap in the present literature by conducting detailed investigation on the strength and wear behaviour of the aluminium alloy AA2024/FA/SiC/Graphite. Five different composites, total amounts of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% by wt% of FA/SiC/Graphite powder were mixed in equal proportions in Al 2024 via stir casting. The prepared tensile specimens are subjected to testing for mechanical responses, i.e., tensile strength, hardness and density. The densities of the developed Al2024 based hybrid MMCs were measured by Archimedean principle or weight loss method. Tensile specimens are tested on FIE made Universal Testing Machine, UTE-100 with load capacity of 100 KN. Vickers hardness tester is used to measure surface hardness of the prepared specimens. newline |
