dc.description.abstract | Cancer is an extremely proliferative disease that can spread to many organs. In the world, cancer ranks second in terms of mortality, accounting for about 13% of all deaths per year. Globally, among every 6 persons, 1 is victim of cancer. Most fatal types of cancers include Colorectal cancer, Stomach cancer, Liver cancer, Breast Cancer and Lung cancer. Global cancer occurrence is predicted to reach 22 million cases per year by 2030. Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in women and the second deadliest cancer in women, which accounts for approximately 23% of all cancers in females. It can occur in breast tissue of either sex but females are more prone to it. The majority of breast cancers appears in the ducts hence called ductal cancer whereas fewer cases that appear in sacs or lobules are known as lobular cancers. Cancer of breast can reach out to other regions of body like lymph glands, bones and liver. Age, sex, race, inability to have or breastfeed children, higher hormone levels, socioeconomic position, and dietary iodine deficit are some variables linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. New chemotherapeutic medicines that may prevent cell growth are being investigated continuously because existing chemotherapeutic medicines are not fully capable to halt the progression of this horrible illness. Quinazolinone is a privileged framework with a broad range of biological functions, including anticancer, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, analgesic, antidiabetic, anti-tussive and anticonvulsant activities. Quinazolinone derivatives are one of the promising agents for anticancer activity. Quinazolinone and its derivatives have gained attention due to their antitumor properties. There are several prominent anticancer drugs like Idelalisib, Erlotinib, Lapatinib, Canertinib, Raltitrexed, Gefitinib, Afatinib and Thymitaq which possess quinazolinone nucleus. So considering anti-cancer activities of Quinazolinone novel derivatives were synthesized and tested on MCF-7 cell line with hope to get anti-cancer agents with better activity. newline | |
