My research focuses on manipulating diazoesters under photolytic and photo-electrolytic conditions in blue LED to generate novel organic building blocks with potential utility in medicinal chemistry and material science. In this direction, my first chapter introduces photo-carbene chemistry and electro-photochemical reactions. In 2nd chapter, photolytic amino etherification reactions of aryl diazoacetates with n-heterocycles and a stoichiometric amount of dioxane/ tetrahydropyran in aqueous medium with application in synthesis of 1,4-dioxepane/1,4,7-dioxazonan-6-one systems have been demonstrated. In 3rd chapter, blue LED induced solvent-free multicomponent reaction among aryl diazoacetates, pyridine derivatives and maleimides: with application in direct eco-friendly synthesis of densely functionalized itaconimides has been reported. In 4th chapter, light induced diversity-oriented synthesis (dos) library of annulated indolizine fluorophores for imaging non-lysosomal lipid droplets (LDs) has been unveiled. In 5th/final chapter, we have demonstrated the first ever electro-photochemical generation and application of carbene anion radical. Thus, throughout my PhD journey, sustainable methods using alternative energy sources and greener reaction set up (like neat reactions, reagent-catalyst-base-acid free conditions etc) for useful chemical transformations have been explored.
