Abstract: | ABSTRACT newline newlineBackground of the study Adolescents go through a critical period of transition characterized by the physical changes brought on by puberty. Menstrual issues are thought to be the most common gynecological issues, particularly for young women. Aim Aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of Foot Reflexology on premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhoea among nursing students from selected colleges in Madurai. Methodology Quasi experimental, pretest post test control group design, two groups with repeated measures were used for the study. A total of 160 samples were selected by using purposive sampling technique, out of which, 80 were in the experimental group and 80 were in control group. Tools used were survey questionnaire, demographic performa, premenstrual syndrome rating scale and numerical pain scale. Results Comparison of three assessments wise, pretest, post test 1 and post test2 showed that there was a statistically significant reduction in premenstrual syndrome in experimental. The study also proved that there was a significant reduction in dysmenorrhoea in experimental group. It further revealed that there was a significant association found between premenstrual syndrome and selected demographic variables like BMI and number of female siblings. It also revealed that there was a significant association found between dysmenorrhoea and selected demographic variables like number of female siblings, family history of premenstrual syndrome and family history of dysmenorrhoea. The study revealed that there is a significant relationship between premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhoea. newline newline |
