Industrial sector is basically divided into two sectors, Organized and Unorganized. Study of ergonomics is very important to know the work-related musculoskeletal problems. Carrying heavy loads, awkward postures, repetitive work are some of the risk factors responsible for damaging the bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, nerves and blood vessels, leading to pain, fatigue, and MSDs. The quality of life is badly affected by MSDs, which are the most common work-related disorders resulting in loss of time and earnings from work. newlineIn this thesis a study has been conducted in shoe industries of Agra under organized sector. The effect of MSDs, perceived stresses, analysis of risk factors, work related stresses and impact of work stressors has been studied. The impact of working in shifts, working in areas where the chemicals are directly or indirectly coming in contact with the workers in shoe industries has also been studied. Development of physiological strain due to wearing heavy shoes is also studied. Six sigma methodologies is also applied to improve the rejection rate in the organizations which may be due to the MSDs generated which reduces the efficiency of workers. newlineStudy has also been conducted in Construction industry, an unorganized sector to know the impact of MSDs due to adverse working conditions. The optimal limits of load carrying in construction work. Work related stress and impact of work stressors is also studied. Finally some recommendations are presented. newline newline
