Abstract: The present research is a systematic study on the synthesis characterization micellization and several physic chemical properties of carboxylate anionic dimerics derived from fatty amine and ethylene diaminetetraacetic acid dianhydride The effects of inorganic salts NaCl KCl and rganic salts NaSal NaBenz on surface activity were also estimated by tensiometric methods All the salts lowered the critical micelle concentration of the synthesized dimeric surfactant the organic salts to a greater extent than the inorganic salts in the sequence NaSal NaBenz KCl NaCl Micellization activity of CADs as well as sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactants in the presence of nonionic polymer ie polyvinylpyrrolidone has also been studied through conductometric and surface tensiometric measurements From these methods the critical aggregation concentration CMC and the effective degree of counterion binding were determined For the evaluation of behavior of CADs toward the PVP various thermodynamic properties viz standard Gibbs energy of micellization standard enthalpy and entropy of micellization of CADs PVP mixed system have also been estimated and discussed The results exhibit that anionic dimeric surfactants interact strongly with PVP as compared to conventional surfactant Beside this surface chemical studies of mixed micellization of CADs with the conventional anionic ie sodium dodecyl sulfate cationic ie cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide and nonionic ie polyethylene glycol p 1 1 3 3 tetramethylbutyl phenyl ether have also been studied The effect of various concentration of molar fraction of CADs on these interactions has been examined The activities of the components micellar compositions and their mutual associations have been examined from Rubinghs theory Different parameters viz mixed micelles experimental CMC ideal CMC and interaction parameter were measured The experimental and ideal CMC values indicate favorable interactions in mixed micelle systems Finally water solubility enhancements of polycyclic aromatic hydrocar
