Abstract: | The thesis entitled DEVELOPMENT OF SOME NEW HETEROGENEOUS CATALYSTS AND THEIR CATALYTIC ACTIVITY contains architecture and synthesis of some heterogeneous polymer supported catalysts and their catalytic activities toward organic synthesis. The main advantages of using polymer supported catalyst are that they are highly recyclable and thermally stable. The characterization data of the synthesized catalysts are described here. The synthesized catalysts were employed in different catalytic reaction like carbonylative disubstituted urea synthesis, in-situ S-M coupling reaction, in situ formylation reaction, quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-diones synthesis, cyclic carbonate synthesis, esterification reaction and and#946;-aminoalcohol synthesis. The works were performed over a period of four years and six month in the Department of Chemistry, University of Kalyani. Kalyani, Nadia, 741235, W.B., India under the supervision of Professor Sk. Manirul Islam. The thesis has been prepared exclusively by me and I have done my best to present the references to these sources. newlineThe thesis contains total eight chapters. Brief summary of the chapters are presented bellow. newlineChapter 1 contains brief description about catalyst, porous materials, metals that are frequently used in catalysis and some literature survey are represented of some catalytic reaction that I have performed. newlineChapter 2 presents a brief discussion of different characterization tools that are used to study a catalyst. Also this chapter contains information about high pressure reactor where I have performed carbonylation reaction by CO. Also the techniques of product identification are described there. newlineChapter 3 contains design and synthesis of chloromethylated polystyrene immobilized ruthenium complex of 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazole catalyst. The catalyst was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, FE-SEM analysis, EDAX analysis, CHN analysis, AAS spectroscopy and TGA. |
