Abstract: | Tribes are normally defined by a shared language and a sense of kinship established by the members belief in common ancestors. One of the distinctive features of tribal community life is geographical isolation. Forest rights, shrinking livelihood opportunity, low level of education and their poor health and income lead to pushed the scholar to work and diagnosis their consumption and occupation pattern as a policy inputs so that suitable affirmative policy and action may be taken in order to realized their true human entity in globalized economy. Historically the tribal population suffers from ecological and social isolation. Their crucial problem is the problem of integration into the wider social economic and political systems. Their economic system is primitive but self-sufficient. This social system is simple but not development oriented in the conventional sense. Very few have studied their changing lifestyle in terms of consumption pattern, both food and non-food and occupation pattern shift from traditional to market based. Apart from that the changing dimensions and dynamics of tribal weekly markets, which are the main social and economic networking place. newlineMadhya Pradesh is the heart of India, amidst the lush green landscapes and rich cultural tapestry, exists a world that often remains hidden from the mainstream narrative the world of tribes. As we delve into the chapters of this study we embark on a journey to from definition of tribe to their culture, education, customs, ethnicity, identity, constitutional rights and their economy, with a specific focus on the changing pattern of occupation and consumption of Gond tribes of Madhya Pradesh. newline |
