Abstract: Changing pattern of agricultural productivity in Birbhum District, an economically backward district in West Bengal, India has been analysed during the period of 1997- newline98 to 2016-17. Relevant data and information from both the secondary and primary sources have been collected for this study. Both the quantitative and qualitative newlineapproaches have been adopted to fulfil the objectives of the study. Based on the Clubbed Crop Yield and Concentration Indices Ranking Coefficient (CCYCIRC) newline(Singh, 1976) of five major crops i.e., aman paddy, boro paddy, wheat, mustard and potato in 1997-98, productivity zones of high, moderate and low have been demarcated in Birbhum District. Three villages from each productivity zone and 30 newlineper cent of the total households (as per Census of India, 2011) from each village i.e., altogether 482 agricultural households have been randomly chosen for household newlinesurvey. newline
